Rosneft Completes 1.2 km Reconstruction of the Ob River Embankment in Nizhnevartovsk

Under an agreement between Rosneft and the government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District of Yugra, a large-scale project has been implemented to give a new look to the Ob River embankment, the calling card of Nizhnevartovsk and a popular recreational area for the city's residents.
The construction of the embankment was preceded by engineering improvements to the coastline. It was reinforced with steel structures and reinforced concrete retaining walls with waterproofing and artificial stone cladding. 
The drainage system is designed taking into account the topography, groundwater level and freezing depth of the soil.
The embankment is landscaped to respect the natural topography of the area. There have been paved paths for walking, jogging and cycling. 
In the promenade areas, viewpoints and recreational areas with sunbeds and swings have been built. The slopes are projected lawns for family recreation. Modern playgrounds for children have been installed using environmentally friendly materials that support the visual concept of the embankment.
There are several venues for cultural events - an open-air amphitheatre, an exhibition complex and an area for craft fairs have been built on the boulevard. The entire area of the embankment is accessible to groups with reduced mobility.
Volunteers from Samotlorneftegaz and the Movement of the Firsts took part in the official opening of the embankment and planted greenery. The organisers held a sports and music warm-up for them.
Rosneft implements social projects aimed at creating favourable living conditions in the regions where it operates. Among other things, it supports initiatives to create a pleasant urban environment.

Samotlorneftegaz is one of Rosneft's key production enterprises developing Russia's largest Samotlor field. In accordance with the agreement between the Company and the Government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District—Yugra, the Company actively participates in the social development of the district. More than 20 major social infrastructure facilities have been opened in the region over the past three years with the support of Samotlorneftegaz.
Among the largest are the buildings of the largest school in Nizhnevartovsk for 1,725 children and two kindergartens, a rope park, a rollerdrome, the EkoKvant youth club and the InzhenerUm technopark. An ice rink was built in Nizhnevartovsk district and a universal sports complex in Khanty-Mansiysk.
Samotlorneftegaz also supported a programme to bring the internet to the indigenous peoples of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District—Yugra. About 2 thousand inhabitants of tribal areas have been connected to the World Wide Web.
