The economic effect of the energy saving program of Samotlorneftegaz (part of Rosneft’s oil and gas production complex) exceeded 1.9 billion roubles by the end of 2023. This is 124% higher than in 2022. The enterprise was able to achieve these results thanks to the introduction of new technologies, energy consumption monitoring and effective energy management.

Improvement of production efficiency is one of the key priorities of Rosneft’s strategy. The Company carries out consistent work aimed at sustainable utilization of energy resources and reduction of energy consumption, optimization of electrical loads and thermal processes.

In 2023, Samotlorneftegaz specialists carried out about 6 thousand measures under the energy saving program in the main areas of production activities. The installation of modern submersible equipment on production wells has significantly reduced the power consumption of the mechanized well stock. Over 4.7 thousand new-generation electric engines and over 1.1 thousand high-efficiency electric centrifugal pumps have been installed. Around 500 modern transformers have also been installed at the well pads to stabilize the voltage.

The enterprise’s specialists also optimized the operation of pumps in the ground infrastructure system at 35 sites. During the year, more than 500 lighting fixtures were replaced and the operation of electric heaters was optimized at more than 400 sites.

Samotlorneftegaz is implementing energy efficiency programs in all production units. The enterprise is certified to the international ISO 50001 Energy Management System standard and the Russian GOST R ISO 50001-2023 standard, confirming its responsible approach to the management of energy resources. The certification confirms the transparency and objectivity of the assessment of energy efficiency, reduction of environmental impact, preservation of natural resources and cost reduction.
