RN-Yuganskneftegaz, Rosneft’s largest oil production enterprise, saved 398 million kWh of electricity through its energy saving program in 2023. The monetary equivalent of the effect was approximately 1.8 billion roubles.

Improvement of production asset efficiency is one of the key priorities of Rosneft’s strategy. The Company’s enterprises take consistent measures to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption, as well as to optimise grid loads and heat processes.

RN-Yuganskneftegaz applies advanced technological solutions to optimise the operation of its production facilities and upgrades pumping equipment at the well stock. In 2023, savings from the introduction of energy-efficient electric motors at the production facilities exceeded 42 million kWh. Additional savings of 7.5 million kWh were achieved by upgrading centrifugal sectional pumps in the reservoir pressure maintenance system.

A significant contribution to saving resources is an increase in the efficiency of power grids by reducing reactive power flow, which leads to losses in power lines, voltage drops and sags. To reduce the reactive flow, filter-compensating equipment is used.

Following an upgrade of the lighting system at RN-Yuganskneftegaz, more than 90% of lighting fixtures were replaced with LEDs. The effect of this program exceeded 30 million kWh.

RN-Yuganskneftegaz received new certificates of compliance of the Energy Management System with the requirements of GOST R ISO 50001-2012 standard and ISO 50001:2018 international standard. The certification confirms the transparency and objectivity of the assessment of energy efficiency, reduction of environmental impact, preservation of natural resources and cost reduction. Through the implementation of the energy saving program, greenhouse gas emissions in electricity consumption were reduced by 3% in 2023.

An important component of the energy efficiency program is improving the energy consumption culture among the enterprise’s employees. In 2023, more than 500 specialists received training and learnt best practices in the field of saving and rational utilisation of fuel and energy resources.

The enterprise monitors energy consumption and analyses new opportunities to further improve the energy efficiency of production.
