17 November 2020

Rosneft opened the XV Interregional Scientific and Technical Conference, which is attended by 411 young professionals from 77 Rosneft Group subsidiaries – the winners of Regional and Cluster Scientific and Technical Conferences in 2020.

330 projects were presented before a panel of judges, which includes managers and experts of the Company’s Central Management Office. The conference panel of judges is headed by Andrey Shishkin, the Vice-President for Informatization, Innovation, and Localization of Rosneft.

Traditionally, according to the results of the conference, the best projects will be recommended for implementation in production at the Company’s facilities. The projects of young professionals selected at the conference in 2018 brought Rosneft an economic impact of 275 million roubles a year later.

Rosneft annually holds scientific and technical conferences to develop the expertise of young professionals of the Company, to enhance their motivation to solve state-of-the-art production problems, involve them in innovative research and design activities, and identify and encourage young people with high potential.

The XV Interregional Scientific and Technical Conference is held in remote digital form. Opening the conference, Didier Casimiro, First Vice President of Rosneft, noted that the Company provides young professionals with all opportunities for obtaining highly professional knowledge and skills, self-actualization, and career growth. “We need gifted youth capable of generating fresh ideas, creating and implementing new technologies, and working with up-to-date equipment,” Casimiro said in a video address to conference participants.

The opening ceremony was also attended by guests of honor: Anastasia Bondarenko, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, and David Campbell, President of BP Russia.

The Company holds scientific and technical conferences in three stages. At the first stage, Regional Scientific and Technical Conferences of young professionals are held in Rosneft Group subsidiaries. The participants are young professionals with work experience from one to three years. In 2020, Regional Scientific and Technical Conferences were held in 97 Rosneft Group subsidiaries, attended by 3,634 Company employees, including 2,716 young professionals out of 4,001 young professionals working for the Company.

Winners and nominees of regional conferences take part in the next stage – Cluster Scientific and Technical Conference of young professionals. It is organized on the sites of several Subsidiaries and is divided into business processes: production and service, oil and gas processing and petrochemicals, petroleum product supply, science, shipbuilding, and ship repair. In 2020, due to the spread of COVID-19, Cluster Conference was held in distance form. In total, 1,460 young professionals from 100 Rosneft Group subsidiaries took part in the Cluster stage of the Conference in 2020 and presented 1,215 projects. The winners and nominees of the conference were 412 young professionals from 78 Rosneft Group subsidiaries with 331 projects.
