On June 1, Rosneft celebrates World Children’s Day. The Company provided support to children’s social projects for over 500 million roubles in 2019. The funds were used to build and repair orphanages, pre-school institutions, children’s hospitals and to support education, children’s and youth sports, as well as funds and non-profit organisations offering assistance to children. In total, Rosneft and its subsidiaries implemented over 200 different projects in this field last year.
Part of the Rosneft-2022 Strategy is the commitment to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. The Company pays special attention to initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life within the corporate footprint, developing health care, science and education, culture and environmental protection.
Traditionally, on World Children’s Day, Rosneft enterprises hold numerous festivals, contests and creative clubs. This year, due to the epidemiological situation, the Company is organizing events for children in a remote format. Uvatneftegaz will hold the annual School Bag to the First Grader campaign. As part of this campaign, 180 school backpacks with the necessary study equipment set will be handed over to future first-graders from low-income families with many children in the Tyumen and Uvat districts.
Each year, the Company hosts a large number of events aimed at developing an active life position of children, environmental education, developing healthy lifestyle skills, and ensuring personal safety. From August through September 2019, the Company’s subsidiaries held the traditional preventive ten-day “Caution, Children!” event aimed to prevent child injuries in traffic accidents. Leaflets, brochures and memoranda were issued reminding of the importance of speed limits in the passage of children’s pre-school and general education institutions and yard areas. Orenburgneft teaches children the basics of industrial safety and organised “We Are the Children of Oil Workers”, “Dad, You Are Welcome at Home”, and “Safety Is Everyone’s Business” contests.
For 30 years, the Achinsk Refinery together with the trade union organisation has been supporting the activities of the Rainbow club, which has become a real centre of creativity for two hundred children. In addition, the Rosneft Vector corporate children’s camp at the Lake Shira in the Republic of Khakassia, supervised by the company, opened its doors for the first time to children from all over Russia last August. This pilot project brought together 135 children from over 60 Company subsidiaries. The participants of the first shift were children who actively participated in competitions and Olympiads organised by Rosneft and regional associations, supported cultural and volunteer activities, and won awards at municipal, regional, federal and international levels in sports, culture and education.
Sports facilities in the city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur were renovated in 2020 with the support of the Komsomolsk Refinery for pupils of Olympic reserve schools. The Snezhinka ski base is being renovated, and the sports hall at the stadium Stroitel has been completed. For a decade, the enterprise has been providing charitable support to the Komsomolsk-on-Amur rehabilitation centre for children and adolescents with special needs, which is the only institution in the Khabarovsk Territory working with challenged children. With the refinery funds, the institution carried out a major overhaul of the only specialised swimming pool in the Khabarovsk Territory for children with disabilities. An activity room, a specialised playground, a sensory room, a Montessori room, and a hydropathic establishment have been renovated and equipped.
The Saratov Refinery assists socially significant institutions and organisations of Saratov Region on a constant basis. Large-scale reconstruction and equipping of the building of the regional tuberculosis sanatorium for children were completed in 2020 with the funds committed by the Company. RN-Uvatneftegaz has been cooperating with the Tyumen department of the Russian Children’s Foundation for six years financing various federal and regional programmes, including Orphans’ Bank of Needs, Children’s Eyes Behind Bars, Assistance to Children with Special Needs and Hurry Up For Good Deeds. The enterprise supports the Key to Life social partnership project for treatment and rehabilitation (including abroad) of children suffering from severe diseases, as well as for the purchase of expensive medicines and equipment.
Rosneft is creating and developing a system of pre-university training and career guidance for schoolchildren. For this purpose, Rosneft specialised classes are being created in the regions where the Company operates. In their activities, they take into account the specifics of the development of the territorial economy and the needs of the local labour market. At present, there are 122 Rosneft Classes in 57 cities and towns of the Russian Federation (in 27 regions), attended by more than 2,800 schoolchildren.
The Company pays special attention to projects aimed at providing charitable assistance, the development of children and youth. Rosneft makes a significant contribution to the construction and reconstruction of sports facilities, promotes the development of children’s and youth sports, assists medical, educational, musical and artistic institutions, and provides support to large families, orphanages and social rehabilitation centres.
