26 April 2014, Rosneft President, Chairman of the Management Board Igor Sechin met with the Governor of Sakhalin region Alexander Khoroshavin, and visited the drilling rig Yastreb at the Chaivo field in the north of Sakhalin.
During his working trip, Igor Sechin discussed with the region governor issues raised the previous day at a meeting of the Governmental Committee on the development of the Far East under the chairmanship of Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.
In 2013 Rosneft allocated 166.23 million rubles to Sakhalin. The funds were divided to construction of social housing units in in the village of Nogliki in the north of Sakhalin, support to educational, cultural, and sports institutions, support to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, and indigenous peoples of the North. Rosneft also gave support to a number of environmental projects.
During the meeting, the parties reached a series of agreements aimed at further development of bilateral cooperation.
At the present time there is a series of treaties between the Government of Sakhalin and Rosneft concerning establishment of production facilities for refining of hydrocarbons, jet fuel supply to airports, implementation of CHP modernization project in Okha in the north of Sakhalin, etc.
